Luigi Ferrari Trecate

Luigi Ferrari Trecate was born in Alessandria in 1884 and began his studies at the Conservatorio di Parma and the Liceo Musicale di Pesaro, graduating in organ with Cicognani and in composition with Pietro Mascagni in 1904. He taught organ and composition at both the Conservatorio di Bologna and the Conservatorio di Parma, of which he also served as director.

He held numerous public positions, including vice presidency of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, presidency of the Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna (1955), and leadership of the musical section of the Consiglio Superiore delle Belle Arti. He became involved in the poetic world of fairy tales, where he distinguished himself with an important production of lyrical fairy tales for children.
